Summary of the contracting process

NHS Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board (ICB) has updated the contracting process for the provision of Mental Health services in partnership with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The procurement, under the title "ACUTE_RXX_QXU_2425," falls within the services category and specifically involves psychiatric hospital services (CPV: 85111500). The procurement method employed was a direct award without prior publication, following the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Key milestones include the contract's start date on 1st April 2024 and an end date on 31st March 2025, with an optional one-year extension. The involved regions include Woking (UKJ2). The contract’s total lifetime value stands at £349,007,940, and specific associate commissioners like NHS Frimley ICB are involved, contributing up to £80,716,000.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, especially those with expertise in mental health care provisions. Given the focus on delivering Commissioner Requested Services (CRS) and specialised services, large-scale providers experienced in acute mental health care and capable of meeting regulatory requirements would be well-suited to compete. The direct award method points to an urgent or unique need for specialised providers, implying limited competition and making it a lucrative opportunity for established healthcare entities. Businesses that can offer innovative, high-quality psychiatric services can leverage this tender to strengthen their market position and grow their portfolio in the public health sector.
