Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education (DfE) is initiating the planning stage for the "Schools Water Strategy - Property Flood Resilience Early Supplier Engagement" project. This procurement falls under the industry category of flood-prevention works (CPV Code 45246400) and is aimed at reducing flood risks for schools across the United Kingdom. The strategy aligns with the broader Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, announced in April 2022, targeting resilience to climate change and improved environmental conditions in educational settings. Key dates include the anticipated release of further notices on 1st August 2025. This is an early supplier engagement exercise to gather market capabilities and interest but does not constitute an official call for competition.

This procurement opportunity can offer significant growth potential for businesses specialising in flood prevention, construction, civil engineering, and environmental resilience. The project will require a broad range of services including flood risk assessments, design and construction of flood resilience measures, technical assurance, and project management. Ideal candidates for this opportunity are companies with proven expertise in flood-prevention works, building construction, river regulation and maintenance of flood defences. Organisations with a focus on sustainability and climate resilience in education settings are particularly well-suited to compete for upcoming contracts related to this project.
