Summary of the contracting process

Associated British Ports (ABP) is in the planning stage of a major procurement process titled "Future Port Talbot market engagement," geared towards developing a significant hub for floating offshore wind (FLOW) and green energy at Port Talbot, Wales (UKL region). The procurement, primarily categorized under construction work (CPV 45000000), includes site clearance, road construction, sand quarry restoration, habitat improvement, and utilities and drainage work, commencing in Autumn 2024 with potential enabling works starting in Q4 2024 and main activities spanning from Q1 2025 to Q3 2026.

This tender presents robust opportunities for growth to businesses specialising in construction, ecological mitigation, and site remediation. Companies with expertise in handling hazardous materials, building infrastructure (such as roads), and ecological landscape design will be well-suited to compete. The procurement method will involve an e-tendering portal, where interested parties must register and express their interest to partake in this transformative project that complements The Crown Estate’s leasing round for FLOW in the Celtic Sea, fostering both industrial development and ecological sustainability.
