Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a contract titled "EOD Bomb Suit Life Extension" to NP Aerospace Limited, focusing on extending the operational life of the current in-service EOD Bomb Suits used by British Forces. The procurement falls within the 'Survival suits' industry category, classified under CPV code 37414800. This contract involves goods procurement through a limited negotiated procurement method without the publication of a contract notice, due to technical reasons. The scope covers obsolescence management and potential replacement of components to extend the bomb suits' operational life until 2035. The procurement stage is now complete with the contract signed on 14th August 2024, and the location for delivery of services is in the UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the manufacturing and maintenance of defence equipment, particularly those with expertise in survival and protective gear. As NP Aerospace Limited is the OEM with extensive technical knowledge and experience, they were awarded the contract directly. However, subcontracting opportunities exist, making it an attractive prospect for businesses looking to collaborate. Companies specialising in technical analysis, testing, and obsolescence management will find this contract particularly lucrative, contributing to extending the operational life of critical defence equipment.

This may involve obsolescence management and replacement of component parts as deemed necessary to enable the operational life to be extended out to 2035. This requirement does not seek to procure a new capability, it is simply to maintain and extend the life of the current in-service capability.
