Summary of the contracting process

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is planning a tender for the design and delivery of the UKAEA Visitor Centre at their Culham Campus in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, within the region of UKJ14. This project falls under the industry category of "Exhibition equipment" and will consist of designing and building exhibits, both offsite and later installing them at the centre. Key dates include the future notice date on 22nd October 2024, with the completion date set before 30th March 2025. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage and entails a detailed scope that includes engaging with internal UKAEA departments and delivering exhibits that fit into the predesigned exhibition space.

This tender offers lucrative opportunities for businesses specialising in exhibition design, construction, and installation. Companies with experience in creating compelling visitor experiences, especially within educational or scientific sectors, would be well-suited to compete. The project aims to create an engaging and informative space for various groups, including schools, universities, the general public, and the wider fusion sector. This presents a chance for businesses to establish strong working relationships with UKAEA, expand their portfolio, and contribute to a high-profile outreach initiative. Interested suppliers are encouraged to submit expressions of interest and can expect further details in the forthcoming Invitation to Tender documentation.

This is conditional upon completion dates being achieved. The Visitor Centre is housed within our new main gate building at the entrance of Culham Campus. This building has already been designed, and exhibits must fit into the requirements of the 'Exhibition' space (CUL-C11-F0-06). Please find attached floor plans outlining the space available. This scope assumes that the exhibits will be built first offsite and then installed within the Visitor Centre at a later date (before 30th March 2025).
