Summary of the contracting process

The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract for comprehensive CT and MRI scanning services to Nuffield Health at Ipswich Hospital. The award, made under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, is for a high-quality diagnostic service including reporting, storage, and inspection of tests, targeting individuals with suspected dementia. The service will run until 31 March 2027. Key decision makers for this award included Chantelle Beckett, Jo Zenzer, and Melanie D'Ardis. The procurement was executed through a limited procedure without a prior call for competition, reflecting the necessity for a unique provider capable of meeting local diagnostic reporting requirements promptly.

This contract presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare diagnostics, particularly those with expertise in advanced imaging services. Companies capable of delivering comprehensive radiological reporting and capable of swift consultation and feedback are well-suited to compete for similar tenders. The procurement method favours providers with established service capabilities and readiness to meet stringent reporting timelines, thus encouraging firms to bolster their service offerings and invest in their diagnostic technologies to cater to future opportunities in the healthcare sector.
