Summary of the contracting process

Manchester City Council (MCC) is seeking to establish a framework for the provision of Home Care and Extra Care Services in Manchester. This tender, classified under the health and social work services category, comprises three Lots: Home Care North (up to 10 providers), Home Care Central (up to 15 providers), and Home Care South (up to 15 providers). Providers can only be included in a maximum of two lots. The procurement process is currently at the tender stage, with submissions due by 11am on 25 November 2024. The framework agreement is expected to commence on 1 July 2025 and will last for four years. All submissions must be made electronically through the e-business portal known as The Chest.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the health and social care sector to expand their operations within Manchester. The framework's division into three geographic Lots allows for tailored service provision, enabling businesses with varying capacities and regional focuses to compete. Companies with strong capabilities in delivering quality home care and addressing social and environmental criteria will have a competitive edge in the bidding process. Furthermore, the sizable contract value of £140 million offers substantial growth potential for successful bidders, making it an attractive prospect for both established providers and emerging enterprises in the community care industry.
