Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Ridgeway Secure Inpatient Services - Stepped Psychology Service" has been managed by the Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, based in Darlington. The procurement falls under the industry category of Health and Social Work Services. This contract, which spans from 24th October 2024 to 23rd October 2027, involves the direct award of services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) without prior publication, with the contract formally awarded on 16th October 2024. The service provision is slated to commence on 1st November 2024, offering 4 Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) qualified staff to deliver psychological interventions across multiple wards, thereby supporting the Ridgeway Secure Inpatient care system in the UKC1 region.

This tender creates significant opportunities for growth, particularly for businesses specialised in healthcare, specifically those providing psychological interventions. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality services integrated into inpatient care would be well-suited to compete. The awarded contract, valued at £465,000, has been extended to "Rethink," an existing provider, demonstrating the need for experienced suppliers capable of sustaining service quality and integration within key healthcare settings. Businesses with similar qualifications and the ability to manage referrals and staff presence across wards can leverage this procurement to expand their services and solidify their presence in the healthcare sector.
