Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MoD), based in Bristol, UK, has finalised a contract for the "Energus Graduate Scheme" within the education and training services industry. This procurement process, initiated under a limited procedure without a prior call for competition, reached the award stage on 10 October 2024. The contract, valued at £2,121,685 GBP, was signed on 17 September 2024. This scheme involves the sponsorship of 17 graduates for two years, placing them within both technical and non-technical disciplines across the Defence sector. The scheme is provided by Energus, a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and focuses on placements within Defence and its supply chain.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in education and training services, particularly those that can supply graduates with expertise in the nuclear sector. Companies looking to collaborate with the MoD or enter the Defence supply chain may find this tender particularly beneficial. The specific focus on technical and non-technical disciplines ensures a wide range of business can participate, from technical consultancies to training providers specialising in professional development for engineers and technicians. Energus’s unique position as the default external graduate scheme provider for the nuclear sector underscores the niche yet potentially lucrative nature of this procurement opportunity.

Lot Information

Lot 1

DNO is to sponsor one cohort of 17 graduates for 2 years through the Energus Nuclear Graduate Scheme (ENG). Energus is a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. This scheme provides graduates on placement into Defence across a range of both technical and non-technical disciplines for a period of 2 years including placements within both Defence and the Defence supply chain.

Procurement Information

Energus is a not-for-profit wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the default external graduate scheme provider for the majority of the NSDG partners in the nuclear sector. DNO's requirement for this cohort is 10.96% of Energus's in-year provision. No other organisation is known to supply sector wide nuclear graduates.
