Summary of the contracting process

NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB has announced an intention to award a contract for the "Glaucoma Referral Refinement Scheme" under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Regulations 2023. The process has reached the Award stage, with the standstill period commencing from the 11th of October 2024 and representations by providers required by the 23rd of October 2024. The contract, valued at approximately £63,430 for the period from the 24th of October 2024 to the 30th of September 2025, aims to deliver optician services specifically focused on glaucoma repeat measures and enhanced case finding. The awarded entity, Primary Eyecare Services Ltd., is expected to continue providing these services without considerable changes to the previous contract.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in healthcare services, particularly those providing optician services, to grow their market presence by collaborating with the NHS. The continuity and stability of service, as well as a clearly defined scope and value, make this an attractive prospect for businesses capable of meeting high standards in healthcare delivery. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with experience in delivering similar services would be especially well-suited to compete in such tenders, given the emphasis on maintaining service consistency and quality.
