Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, under the UK Strategic Command Commercial, has completed the procurement process for supplying ground fuels to British Forces Cyprus. The procurement aimed to secure diesel fuel, kerosene jet type fuels, and heating oil, classified under the industry category "Petroleum and distillates" (CPV: 09134220, 09131100, 09135100). This contract, titled "Supply of Ground Fuels to British Forces Cyprus," was facilitated through an open procurement method. Initially tendered on 24th October 2024, the process progressed to an award stage by 23rd April 2025, with the contract being signed on 4th April 2025. The designated location for delivery is across various British Forces Cyprus locations, with a contract period that initially indicated a duration until 31st March 2029, later corrected to 31st March 2030. The awarded contract has been valued at GBP 7,845,915.51 and awarded to "EKO Cyprus Ltd."

The procurement of ground fuels presents significant business growth opportunities, especially for suppliers specialising in fuel supply and logistics services. Large enterprises with capabilities to deliver bulk automotive diesel, fuel oils for industrial uses, and kerosene fuels would be well-suited to compete. Given the open tender process and the enduring nature of this requirement, businesses with robust security measures to handle OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data and those who can swiftly comply with cyber submission requirements can leverage this opportunity. Additionally, suppliers that can extend their services through renewable contracts can benefit from long-term engagements with the Ministry of Defence.
