Summary of the contracting process

North East London NHS Foundation Trust has announced the planning stage for the procurement of an Adult Autism Assessment Service under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). This contract, valued at £50,000, will cover psychiatrist or psychologist services within the regions of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. The objective is to complete at least 45 diagnostic assessments by 31st March 2025, using a multi-disciplinary approach. This service is expected to be delivered between three to five days a week and adherence to NICE Guidelines is required. The notice will be live for fourteen days from 6th November 2024, with face-to-face assessments facilitated by NELFT in provided clinic rooms.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in psychological or psychiatric services, particularly those with experience in adult autism diagnostics. Ideal candidates would be providers capable of employing standard diagnostic tools (such as ADOS-2, 3DI, and AAA) and maintaining a strong quality assurance framework. The contract can enable firms to expand their service offerings and establish a foothold in the NHS service provision sector, contributing to the reduction of diagnostic waiting times and supporting the broader national strategy for autism. Additionally, the focus on a robust post-diagnosis support package aligns with the NHS's long-term commitment to improving mental health and well-being services.
