Summary of the contracting process

The Isle of Wight Council has confirmed the award of a contract under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 to provide an Alcohol and Drugs Community Treatment and Recovery Service. This contract involves rehabilitation services within the 'Health and social work services' category, specifically aimed at serving the Isle of Wight region (UKJ34). The procurement utilised a limited method, directly under Award C, without prior publication of a call for competition. Officially awarded on 21 November 2024, the contract will commence on 1 July 2025 with an initial term until 30 June 2028, and the option to extend it for an additional two years. The total estimated value is £8,451,915.

The awarded contract presents significant opportunities for businesses in the rehabilitation services sector, particularly those experienced in delivering community drug and alcohol programmes. Businesses that can offer evidence-based, recovery-oriented, and outcome-focused services tailored to various community needs, while being responsive to substance use trends, will be well-positioned. This contract also supports larger organisations capable of integrating health services and sustaining operations across an extended contract period, potentially up to five years. The engagement not only supports individual and community health outcomes but also opens pathways for business growth by leveraging social value and innovation. The Midlands Foundation Partnership Trust (Inclusion IOW) appears as a key supplier, demonstrating the potential for regional and large-scale service providers to participate actively.
