Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Phlebotomy Services - CDC" tender has been completed by Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This contracting activity falls under the "Health services" category and focuses on providing community phlebotomy services at the Thurrock Community Hospital in the UKH37 region. The procurement stage is at the "Award" phase, with the contract being signed on 12 November 2024. This limited procurement method was rationale-defined as falling outside the scope of the directive and was executed without prior publication of a call for competition, directly awarding the contract to the incumbent service provider (PSR direct award C).

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those with experience in community health services and blood testing. The contract, valued at £16,000, has been awarded to the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, who will continue to provide phlebotomy services at Thurrock. Businesses that can deliver reliable, efficient, and patient-focused healthcare services would be well-positioned to compete for similar contracts in the future, as there is a continual need for high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic patient care solutions within the NHS framework.
