Summary of the contracting process

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) has concluded its evaluations for the tender titled "IP Patent Attorney Services and IP Landscaping Services" and determined that an award will not proceed at this time for Lot 2 - IP Landscaping Services. This decision aims to ensure future procurement aligns more effectively with the strategic objectives and the business needs of UKAEA. The procurement process commenced under the legal basis of the CELEX 32014L0024 directive, targeting the services category with CPV classification 79120000 for patent and copyright consultancy services. Initially planned and launched with open procedure methodology, the process includes locations in the UKJ14 region, primarily for research and development related to fusion technology. Key procurement stages include the initial planning phase as of December 2024 with an expected launch in January 2025 and completion in April 2025, alongside a detailed review procedure to ensure fairness and compliance.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses operating within the intellectual property legal framework and consultancy services sectors. Organisations with a strong track record in patent attorney services, extensive experience in IP search and landscaping, and a robust management infrastructure would find this procurement particularly advantageous. As the UKAEA's intellectual property portfolio spans diverse areas such as novel materials, software, robotics, and more, businesses with technical expertise in these domains could leverage this opportunity for substantial growth and strategic positioning in supporting UKAEA’s mission. Firms capable of providing comprehensive, high-quality IP consultancy and legal advisory services stand to benefit from this potential multi-year engagement, promoting long-term business sustainability and innovation growth.
