The procurement method used was a direct award without prior publication of a call for competition, which is outside the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those involved in the supply and distribution of pharmaceutical products. Pearl Chemist Limited's involvement underscores the demand for reliable suppliers capable of delivering critical medications on a 24/7 basis. SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector with a focus on community health care and end-of-life care services would be well-positioned to compete in similar tenders, given the emphasis on ensuring a continuous and prompt supply of palliative care medications to patients' residences within a tight timeframe. This initiative not only enhances patient care but also fosters partnerships between healthcare providers and specialised suppliers.
