Summary of the contracting process

NHS Kent & Medway Integrated Care Board, in collaboration with NHS South East London Integrated Care Board, has conducted a procurement process for a Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service in the health services category. The procurement follows the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) regulations and involves a contract initially set for five years, with the possibility of a three-year extension. The service covers areas including Kent, Medway, Bromley, Bexley, and major hospital sites in London, with an expected lifetime contract value of £210,674,927. The procurement method was an open procedure, with the award decision having been made public on 29th September 2025. Providers interested in challenging the award must submit representations by 10th October 2025.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the healthcare logistics and transport sectors, especially those experienced in managing non-urgent, planned patient transportation. It is ideal for companies that can offer innovative solutions and maintain high quality in service delivery, as these are key award criteria alongside value, integration, and sustainability. Though the current tender has been awarded to G4S Care and Justice Services (UK) Limited, the contractual value and potential extensions make it appealing for businesses looking to expand within the healthcare support services industry. Companies offering competitive, sustainable, and patient-centric transport solutions may find future opportunities in similar tenders or as sub-contractors. The open bidding process also encourages participation from SMEs, as illustrated by the documented interest from two SMEs out of the seven bids received.

NHS South East London Integrated Care Board (acting as the Associate Commissioner) have
undertaken a procurement process for a Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service. The aim
