Summary of the contracting process

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB), on behalf of NHS England, has announced the awarding of contracts for the delivery of Mandatory Dental Services (MDS) in Portsmouth and Havant, following a competitive Provider Selection Regime. This procurement process is part of the healthcare service expansion to improve dental care access across various regions, including Havant and Portsmouth. The contracts were divided into five lots, where contracts for Lots 2 (Havant), 3 (North Portsmouth), 4 (South Portsmouth), and 5 (Portsmouth) have been successfully awarded, with services expected to commence from dates varying between 1st September 2025 and 19th January 2026, and lasting up to 115 months. No bids were received for Lot 1, covering Havant - Waterlooville. The procurement category falls under dental practice and related services (CPV code: 85130000), and was conducted through an open procedure aimed at securing high-quality, cost-effective services.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for business growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in dental care services. Companies like Damira Dental Studios Limited and 1OSD Limited, which were awarded contracts, demonstrate that well-established dental providers can thrive by leveraging their expertise to meet the stringent quality and financial criteria set by the NHS. With a combined contract value exceeding £44 million across the awarded lots, this procurement not only ensures improved public access to dental services but also provides a lucrative platform for businesses to expand their service offerings in line with the NHS Long Term Plan. Suppliers with the capability to innovate and align with the NHS's strategic priorities will find this tender particularly beneficial for sustainability and growth.
