Summary of the contracting process

The Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has conducted a public procurement process for the "A&E Safety Planning Outreach" project, which falls under the hospital services category. The procurement aims to provide safety planning outreach for individuals visiting A&E with self-harm or suicidal thoughts, who do not require secondary care interventions. This initiative, based in Bracknell, UK (region UKJ11), reflects a strategic procurement approach under the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023. The process has now reached the stage of contract award, confirmed on 12th June 2025, following a direct award procedure without prior competition, and dismissing the applicability of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for business growth, particularly for entities specialising in health services, community support, and mental health collaborations. Oxfordshire Mind, a small and medium-sized enterprise, was awarded the contract valued at £85,000, demonstrating the potential for regional providers to engage in valuable partnerships with public health bodies. The service spans from 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2026, highlighting a robust collaboration prospect aimed at improving mental health outcomes through localised community support solutions. Entities with expertise in integrating primary and secondary health services, especially those with a focus on mental health, would be well-placed to compete in similar procurement opportunities.
