Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Camden is in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "School meals future market engagement," aimed at enhancing its school catering services. The Council's ambitious Food Mission seeks to ensure that every resident in the borough has access to a healthy, nutritious, and sustainable meal daily by 2030. The scope of this procurement includes providing school meals to over 40 schools, predominantly primary, serving approximately 8,000 meals per day, with all meals being free for primary-aged pupils. The estimated contract value is £16,000,000 GBP, with the delivery region identified as UKI31. The Council is actively investigating in-house service options and seeks potential strategic partners capable of supporting both the development and operational phases, with a future notice date set for 1st April 2026.

This tender offers a significant opportunity for businesses involved in catering services, particularly those specialising in school meals and sustainable food solutions. Companies with the capacity to support the London Borough of Camden's strategic ambitions around food as a tool for positive change will find this contract especially beneficial. The Council is looking for partners who can provide the necessary capacity and expertise required to successfully develop and operate the in-house school meals service. Businesses that can offer innovative solutions and demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Food Mission will be well-positioned to compete for this strategic partnership.
