Provision of PG Diploma Aviation Medicine for the Defence Medical Academy
Notice Description
This is a Ministry of Defence (MoD) requirement of access to the following "off the shelf" educational courses available in the KCL prospectus: a. PG Diploma Aerospace Medicine (Home Student) - approx. 6 personnel per year to a maximum of 8 per year. b. PG Diploma Aerospace Medicine Examination for 6 personnel per year. to Defence Medical Services (DMS) personnel to ensure they are competent for operational and peacetime roles.

Procurement Information
Market research undertaken has shown that KCL run the only courses in the UK approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians. A DMS without this training does not meet regulatory minima, has no claim to SQEP, cannot author its own medical policy, set its own regulations nor safely and efficiently manage its staff and patients. A thorough search was conducted and no other provider for the course has been found in the UK. All websites that advise on study options (such as UCAS) point back to KCL for this specific requirement as KCL run the only courses in the UK approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians. In the unlikely event that other providers offer this course, they are not approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians which would not grant credibility and accreditation to the qualification and which would be unacceptable for any Medical Professionals. The only 2 other universities that have been found to offer this qualification are based in New Zeeland (University of Otago) and Australia (Monash University).
