Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process for the "Local Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (LEVCI) for BCP and Dorset Councils" has evolved into the award stage. The procurement was initiated jointly by Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council and Dorset Council, both acting as the buying organisations. The focus is on the transport equipment and infrastructure sector, specifically targeting the installation and maintenance of public electric vehicle charging points. The primary location for implementation includes the regions of Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, and Dorset (UKK24 and UKK25). This contract has been awarded to Connected Kerb Limited under an open procurement method following the Concession Contract Regulations 2016. The contract, valued at approximately £64.2 million over 15 years, was signed on 5th September 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for businesses specialising in sustainable transport solutions and infrastructure development. Given the substantial investment and strategic focus on electric mobility, companies adept in installation services of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as ongoing maintenance, stand to gain the most. The procurement process was designed to encourage a competitive atmosphere, demonstrated by a bidding phase that saw participation from multiple SMEs, making it an inclusive opportunity for both large and small businesses in the transport and energy sectors.
