Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, based in Telford, United Kingdom, had proposed a tender titled "The Repair of Steering Gear and Hydraulic Assemblies & Associated Items" under the Defence and Security Public Contract Regulations 2011. The procurement was aimed at establishing a framework agreement for maintenance and repair services related to specific vehicle parts, classified under CPV code 50116000. The process was carried out under a restricted procedure, initially announced in February 2026. However, the contracting authority has decided to cancel this procurement activity as of July 2026. Despite the cancellation, it's worth noting this involved a potential seven-year framework agreement encompassing various military vehicles such as Land Rover and Pinzgauer, with specific attention to quality and conformance standards outlined by the Allied Quality Assurance Publication (AQAP) AQAP 2110.

This tender would have been an attractive opportunity for businesses specialising in military vehicle maintenance and repair services, particularly those with capabilities in steering and hydraulic systems. Companies certified under ISO 9001:2015 or possessing equivalent quality management accreditations would have been well-suited contenders. Additionally, the procurement process highlighted the need for suppliers to manage logistics, including packaging to military standards, thereby providing growth opportunities for those with robust supply chain capabilities. Despite the tender’s cancellation, similar future opportunities could benefit businesses experienced in defence sector contracts, especially those familiar with the Ministry of Defence's exacting standards and requirements.
