Summary of the contracting process

Achilles Information Ltd is planning a tender for the Utilities Vendor Data Base (UVDB) scheme, classified under Construction work (CPV code 45000000). The procurement process is in the planning stage, with the key industry categories including utility entities in the fields of electricity, gas, water, port, airport-related activities, and postal services. The tender primarily focuses on works within the UK, although contract awards could extend to other locations. Notable dates include the transition of applicable Requests for Information to this new notice starting from 20th February 2025. This tender will follow the regulations under the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and includes the use of electronic auctions as a possible procurement method.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for business growth, especially for companies specialising in high-risk or regulated construction works. The UVDB scheme provides a robust qualification system that can significantly broaden a company’s client base within the utility sector. Businesses suitable to compete in this tender include suppliers of works, supplies, and services related to the utility industries covered. High-risk product vendors may need to undergo independent audits under the Verify scheme. Organisations that are not yet registered with UVDB should consider applying via Achilles to enhance their visibility and competitiveness in this regulated market.
