Summary of the contracting process

NHS Devon Integrated Care Board has announced the awarding of a contract for Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) and Complex Emotional Needs services in Plymouth and surrounding areas under the Provider Selection Regime. This contract, valued at £4,675,000, is set to commence on 1st April 2025 and run until 31st March 2028, with an optional extension of up to 2 years. This procurement, categorised under psychiatrist or psychologist services, operates via a limited procedure with award criteria based heavily on quality, value, integration, collaboration, sustainability, improving access, social value, and effective delivery.

This contract offers a substantial opportunity to businesses specialising in mental health services, particularly those providing multidisciplinary community care for individuals aged 14 to 65 years experiencing their first episode of psychosis or at high risk of developing it. Given the focus on integration and collaboration with other local providers, businesses with strong ties to the health, social care, education, and voluntary sectors in Plymouth could leverage this opportunity for growth. The provider will be evaluated on criteria such as innovation, sustainability, and social value, making this a perfect fit for organisations that can deliver high-quality integrated care while addressing complex emotional needs and reducing inequalities.
