Notice Title
Provision of Residential and Nursing Care for Older People
Notice Description
Medway Council is seeking to recommission Residential and Nursing Care for people aged 65 years and over. The Care Act requires local authorities to provide high quality care and support services to help vulnerable people to live their day-to-day life. Medway Council typically does this by commissioning suitably registered care providers to deliver this on its behalf to residents who meet the eligibility criteria. A residential care home provides accommodation and 24-hour personal care and support to people who find it difficult to manage activities of daily living at home. Residential care homes provide residents with a safe place where they are looked after according to their needs. This typically includes help with washing, dressing, toileting, administering medication and mobility. The purpose of a residential care home is to ensure people who cannot live independently are well looked after and continue to lead meaningful lives. In addition to the services offered at a residential care home, a nursing care home will provide 24-hour care and support to residents to help with daily living, personal care, mobility, plus additional support from a qualified nurse to support with more complex conditions and medical needs.
Planning Information
Medway Council will be holding an in-person market engagement event to inform the market about our commissioning intentions related to this potential procurement opportunity. We would like to hear the views of our local adult social care providers, specifically those who provide residential and nursing care services for older people. This is an opportunity to learn about, influence and help shape the future contract for delivering adult social care support. It will not be possible to attend the event virtually. To book a place for the event please use the link below: https://forms.office.com/e/uJeVPA4Dyb Please note registrations for the event must be received by 1:00pm, Monday 28 April 2025 at the latest. To ensure the maximum number of organisations can attend, places are limited to one person per organisation in the first instance. A second person can apply but we may need to decline if the applications exceed venue capacity. Location: Chatham, Kent (details sent upon registration) Date: Tuesday 29 April 2025 Time: 9.30 am arrival - 3.30pm
