Summary of the contracting process

Bath & North East Somerset Council is planning a procurement process for Adult Social Care Day Opportunities, targeting social work services within the community. The procurement falls under the planning stage, with key deadlines including an online Supplier Event on 24 April 2025. Interested companies should register via Proactis for access. The tender includes two lots, Community Social and Memory Support and Day Opportunities for People with Dementia, with an estimated total value of £1.7 million over 7 years. Services are set to commence on 1 January 2026. The procurement method will be an open procedure, and the council prioritises social value with a minimum 10% weighting on inclusion, accessibility, and volunteer opportunities.

This tender provides substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community and social enterprises (VCSEs) with experience in dementia care and community support services. Providers will need to demonstrate local capacity, have an annual turnover of at least £250k, and meet mandatory safeguarding requirements. The contract aims to reduce social isolation by 20%. Businesses skilled in social work services and capable of delivering physically and mentally stimulating activities for adults and carers are well-suited to compete for this procurement, creating market expansion and service diversification prospects in the Bath and North East Somerset region.
