Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement contract titled "TB Testing" was executed by NHS Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board (ICB) under urgent provisions of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The process falls outside the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, addressing the urgent need for screening of Tuberculosis (TB) at an educational facility in Surrey, UK, due to a high risk of infection spread. The contract, consisting of blood analysis services classified under CPV code 85111810, was awarded to Revvity and required completion on 23rd April 2025. This one-off procurement used a limited procedure given the pressing circumstances and was awarded without prior publication to address immediate public health risks identified by the UK Health Security Agency.

This tender opens opportunities for businesses specialising in rapid diagnostics and healthcare responses to urgent public health needs, especially those capable of swiftly mobilising resources for community health services. Companies proficient in phlebotomy and blood analysis, particularly with capacities to conduct IGRA tests for TB, especially in high-throughput environments like educational institutions, would be well-suited to such contracts. The ability to address urgent health concerns with agility can secure business growth in healthcare sectors highly reliant on speed and efficiency, positioning firms favourably for similar urgent service contracts in the future.
