Summary of the contracting process

Suffolk County Council, in collaboration with the Crown Commercial Service, is planning a procurement process for the Provision of LEVI Capital Project, with a focus on public road transport services. This initiative involves setting up supplier-funded electric vehicle chargepoints in Suffolk, supported by LEVI Capital grant funding from the council. The procurement process is set to commence around early to mid-May 2025, with the tender managed through the Crown Commercial Service's Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Solutions Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). This endeavour caters to providing on-street chargepoints in conservation areas within Suffolk, requiring a 'flat and flush' solution to maintain the historical aesthetics, with an overarching contract duration of 15 years and a potential 12-month extension. The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, as indicated by the Prior Information Notice (PIN).

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Solutions market, particularly those specialising in public road transport services and sustainable energy solutions. Companies with capabilities in the provision, maintenance, and operation of electric vehicle chargepoints can benefit significantly from this project. Businesses experienced in deploying low-powered, on-street charging solutions that align with aesthetic and conservation requirements will be particularly well-positioned. Moreover, as participation requires Cyber Essentials [Plus] certification, those with established cyber security credentials will have an advantage in competing for this opportunity. This procurement represents a substantial growth opportunity for suppliers aiming to enter or expand within the UK’s public infrastructure sector.
