Notice Title
Site Wide Infrastructure - Next Generation Infrastructure Programme
Notice Description
This package of works forms part of the Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI) Programme, a funded development programme looking to develop the facilities across Norwich Research Park to transform the existing capabilities of John Innes Centre (JIC) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL), both internally recognised centres of excellence in plant and microbial science. NGI will address the deterioration of infrastructure at JIC and TSL to create a world-class facility that will engage with its surroundings, is outward looking and promotes collaboration and innovation to supercharge JIC and TSL's ability to translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions. This package of works comprises of the demolition of existing buildings, provision of upgraded internal access roads and below ground infrastructure works including (but not limited to) new and relocated communications and electricity cabling, upgraded mains water infrastructure, new surface water drainage and new district heating pipework to enable site wide development proposals at John Innes Centre and NGI (the Works). The Works will be carried out on a live scientific research site and in close proximity to ongoing operations and adjacent healthcare facilities. The Works have been designed by the NGI client-side design team who were procured through a competitive tender process in 2018/2019. The Works are governed by the JCT Standard Building Contract (Without Quantities) 2016 with client amendments.
Procurement Information
The proposed contractor has previously successfully tendered for work on the site and is currently carrying out an infrastructure project pursuant to such tenders. The proposed contractor has the competency and capability to deliver the Works and pre-existing knowledge and understanding of the complexities of the infrastructure on the site. The nature of the Works necessitate familiarity with the site due to the potential risk to disrupt ongoing scientific research activities across the wider site and operations at adjacent healthcare facilities which require careful management.
