Support for those found Homeless with Complex Support Needs
Notice Description
The Council has an immediate requirement to support adults who find themselves homeless in suitable safe accommodation which allows them access to intensive 24/7 support. The Council has identified a property in Sunderland for which the support can be delivered. It is expected the contract (support service) will commence approximately Summer 2025 for a period of 3 years, with the option to extend for periods at the discretion of the Council. The property will provide self-contained bedspaces, communal facilities and an office space enough to support 8 individuals. The required support service will provide 24/7 support to ensure the safe operation of the scheme and the delivery of support which facilitates stability, and ultimately safe move on to independent living and a settled life. This provision will also: Help to reduce the incidents of repeat homeless presentations and reduce the burden, both from a service demand aspect and financial aspect, on the public purse Increase the provision and quality of accommodation with support to meet service demands for those found to be homeless with complex support needs who cannot currently be assisted Reduce the risk of poor health and death by those who sleep rough in the city The client group will consist of people found homeless and experiencing high and complex needs and displaying challenging behaviours. The clients will likely have failed in other supported accommodations due to the level of support required to keep them engaged with support and moving towards independent living.
