Summary of the contracting process

Essex County Council is planning a procurement for the Hargrave House Development Scheme in Chelmsford, Essex, to be carried out through an open tender procedure. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a series of important dates outlined, including a planned publication of a future notice on 1st October 2025 and a contract period from 2nd February 2026 to 28th May 2027. The project involves construction work, specifically the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new facility for a charity and ten private market houses, with a total estimated contract value of £5.5 million.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for companies in the construction industry, as it involves substantial public work contracts. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as the procurement process is tailored to suit such businesses with a focus on ensuring accessibility and competitiveness. Firms experienced in residential and commercial development, particularly those adept in managing complex projects in political and public sector environments, would find this opportunity especially suitable. Engaging in this tender could enhance a business's portfolio and provide sustained work over an extended period.
