Summary of the contracting process

North Tyneside Borough Council has completed the award process for the "Alternative Education Services Framework," aimed at providing various educational services to students not in mainstream education. Categorised under the education and training services industry, this procurement covers regions within the United Kingdom, specifically UKC22. Initially initiated on 7th July 2026, the procurement follows an open procedure, addressing students educated other than at school, those excluded from school, or those not in education, employment, or training. The framework is valued approximately at £600,000 annually and runs over five years, with a potential extension of two additional years. Key dates conclude with the start of the contract on 1st August 2026, and the procurement process is characterised by robust competition, receiving numerous bids across various lots.

This framework presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those providing alternative educational solutions, tailored tuition, and online education platforms. SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises can particularly benefit, as the framework explicitly encourages participation from such organisations. The annual reopening of the framework for new suppliers ensures continuous chances for businesses to contribute and secure contracts. With lots offering various types of educational provisions, companies with expertise in delivering face-to-face tuition, nurture provision, and online educational services will find opportunities to grow by engaging with this framework, thus driving their business expansion within the educational sector.
