Summary of the contracting process

Sellafield Limited intends to procure routine and urgent design support across its enterprise, covering both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, with a specific focus on process engineering. The service is design support rather than construction or supply of equipment. The planned scope covers work for Sellafield’s plant-facing design office, including civil, structural and architectural design; multi-discipline mechanical, electrical and instrumentation design; manufactured products; and process engineering. Suppliers with experience supporting nuclear facilities may be particularly well placed, while the scope also includes non-nuclear facilities. The revised tranche structure creates several distinct areas in which businesses may prepare their capability and delivery teams, rather than one undifferentiated service. Small and medium-sized enterprises are identified as suitable, so established specialists and capable niche providers should monitor the forthcoming competitions and framework requirements.
