Notice Title
Disabilities Supported Living Framework
Notice Description
The Council is under a statutory duty to provide care and support to eligible adults with identified needs. Where needs have been identified and are considered to be eligible in line with the criteria set out in Part 1, section 13 of the Care Act 2014, including that the adult requesting support from the local authority to meet those needs, the Council has a duty to consider how it may meet those needs. Supported living services are an alternative to residential care that gives the individual more choice and control and offers better value for the individual. Supported Living is defined as persons with disabilities, who may have additional needs arising from multiple disabilities which may include complex health needs, and/or physical disabilities or mental health problems, living where and with whom they want, for as long as they want, with the ongoing support needed and delivered by their preferred providers to sustain their choices. Customers should be supported to meet the outcomes identified in their individual care and support plans to achieve an optimum level of health, independence, well-being as well as a good quality of life within their own homes. Services should be provided in a flexible manner that responds to changing needs and demands whist maintaining customers' privacy and dignity.
