Summary of the contracting process

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) has initiated a significant procurement process titled "Digbeth (Tea Factory) - FIT OUT" which involves fit-out works at their new premises in Digbeth. The contracting process, now at the award stage, is under the selective procurement method using a competitive flexible procedure. Overbury Plc has been selected as the primary contractor for the building alteration work, which will start in December 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026. This involves fitting out four floors, including technical rooms and meeting spaces, with a total contract value of £13 million. The project, based in the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom (UKG31), is a major works procurement conducted under legal basis outlined by UKPGA 2023/54.

This tender creates substantial opportunities for large contractors involved in construction and fit-out projects, particularly those experienced in technical room furnishings and office space modifications. The projects' scale and requirement for intricate fit-out solutions necessitate expertise in managing detailed finishes and mechanical and electrical installations. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could also find partnership opportunities in niche areas like acoustics, furnishings, and specialised wall and floor finishes. The project’s design was assisted by notable consultative services from J4 Projects, MGAC, and Arup, indicating the importance of collaboration with experienced consultants, thereby making it an attractive opportunity for companies aiming to leverage their technical and project management capabilities for business growth.
