Summary of the contracting process

Leicestershire County Council, operating under the ESPO framework, has concluded its procurement process #379_26 for Waste Collection and Disposal Services across the UK. The procurement categories emphasised include general waste, recycling of various materials, and services for hazardous waste, segmented into ten Lots. The collective framework agreement has a value of £150 million GBP, indicating a significant investment in targeted waste management services through an open procurement method. The awarded framework began on 30 April 2026, with a potential extension until 2030, and involves multiple suppliers, including large enterprises and SMEs from all over the United Kingdom.

This tender opens up a multitude of opportunities for businesses within the waste management sector. Companies specialising in diverse waste processing and recycling services stand to benefit significantly due to the broad scope of services covered, such as hazardous waste handling, general waste, and specialist waste streams. SMEs, in particular, are well-suited to participate, given their adaptive capabilities and competitive pricing models. By engaging in this framework, businesses can tap into a vast network of public sector clients, fostering growth through stable contract fulfillment and long-term partnerships.
