Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MOD), based in London, UK, is initiating a procurement process for the 'Innovation for MOD' programme, primarily in the services category under Education and Training Services. This process aims to foster innovation within defence by collaborating with academic institutions and industry. Key details include the procurement stage of 'tender update,' with the latest update dated 23rd May, 2025, following an initial planning stage noted on 21st May, 2025. The programme is structured to run over three years on a 2+1 basis and utilises the Defence Sourcing Portal (DSP) and the Crown Commercial Service's RM6219 Learning and Training Services Dynamic Purchasing System for supplier selection, highlighting the critical need for suppliers to be registered on these platforms in time for the procurement's start.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in education and training, particularly those with expertise in defence innovation frameworks. Businesses equipped to provide academic programmes, deliver quality courses, and engage with innovation networks while possessing the ability to source problem statements and provide industry mentors would be particularly well-suited. The estimated value of the contract stands at GBP 1,300,000, and participants are encouraged to prepare by establishing relationships with universities, developing course content, and identifying improvements post-evaluation. This initiative represents an opportunity for growth through collaboration and contribution to defence strategies, positioning businesses to leverage academic and industry partnerships.
