Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "SECAmb - Ambulance Make Ready (SASC)" contract, managed by the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, has seen significant developments recently. As of 9th July 2026, the previously planned procurement of comprehensive make ready and transportation services was cancelled due to intricate evaluation methodologies creating potential risks. The Trust plans to restart the tender under a new framework agreement. This service is crucial for ensuring that service vehicles meet the required standards of cleanliness and functionality, supporting fleet maintenance and operations across the United Kingdom. Earlier stages saw the contract reach award status, with the competitive flexible procedure involved and key trusts like the South Central and East of England Ambulance Services acting as participants. The initial contract was set to commence activities by 17th July 2026, with a projected end date of 30th September 2029, including potential extensions for further growth opportunities.

This tender represents substantial opportunities for businesses specializing in cleaning and transportation services, notably in the healthcare sector. Large-scale organisations like Mitie Cleaning and Environmental Services Ltd, due to their prior involvement, would find themselves well-positioned to compete. The contract's requirements for service vehicle preparation, a particular focus on compliance with specified standards of operation, and scope for contract extensions make it an attractive proposition for businesses aiming to expand their footprint in the public health sector. This offers diverse opportunities, particularly for companies adept at navigating complex procurement procedures and capable of delivering operational support services at a significant scale. Potential suppliers should prepare for an upcoming competition under the GCA Healthcare Soft FM Framework Agreement to ensure readiness for this lucrative opportunity.
