Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process discussed here was initiated by Natural England, a central government public authority, with the aim to oversee a project titled "Project Lead for Marsh Fritillary SRP Project on The Lizard". The project is located within The Lizard NNR in the UK, classified under the industry category of project management consultancy services. The procurement followed an open method, specifically below the threshold with open competition, and was at the award and contract stage by the last noted date of 5th August 2025. The contract, valued at £16,800 gross (£14,000 net), commenced on 7th July 2025 and will conclude on 31st July 2026, with the role involving habitat assessments, management plan production, contractor oversight, seed harvesting, and reporting.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for SMEs involved in environmental consultancy and project management services. Businesses with expertise in biodiversity projects and a capacity for managing multidisciplinary tasks, including site assessments and the coordination of land management activities, would be well-suited to fulfil these requirements. The contract involves collaboration with various stakeholders, such as land management contractors and nurseries, which could open paths for further networking and partnership opportunities in ecological management and conservation.
