This contract was awarded on 14th August 2025 to Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP for services designed to explore reform options for local bus services. The study aims to assist the authority in understanding and potentially taking greater control of bus operations in the region, which falls under the industry category of Transport services. The procurement method adopted was an open, below-threshold competition, and the contract period runs from 18th August 2025 to 17th February 2026, with a potential extension available until 16th May 2026.

Notice Title

York and North Yorkshire Bus Reform Study

Notice Description

Y&NYCA are conducting a procurement for an experienced consultant to explore the options available to the Mayor to reform, or even take greater control, of bus services in our area. The study will require an assessment of the particular features and attributes of our bus network, our communities and our geography. We do not want a generic study of bus reform options, we require a focused study that considers the particular needs and constraints that apply to York and North Yorkshire.
