Summary of the contracting process

The University of Leeds is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the development of the next iteration of its Research Data Repository, aimed at facilitating the public sharing of research data. This procurement is classified under the industry-specific software package category, and it pertains to the goods sector with a gross value of £100,000. The process is operating outside The Procurement Regulations 2024, with critical dates including a Supplier Briefing Event on 1st July 2025 and the deadline for the Preliminary Tender Market Engagement (PTME) process set for 18th July 2025. The procurement is expected to culminate with the implementation of the new system by April/May 2026, within the UK region designated UKE42.

This tender represents a substantial opportunity for businesses within the software development industry, particularly those specialising in data management systems. Companies with strong capabilities in developing industry-specific software packages could find a competitive edge in this project, which promises to be instrumental in the University's strategic commitment to open research. Participation in the Supplier Briefing Event and provision of feedback via the PTME process will allow interested suppliers to gain deeper insights and align their proposals with the University’s objectives, potentially opening the door to future collaborative opportunities.
