Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the Slough Borough Council as the buying organisation, focusing on the "Hospital Navigator Scheme" within the services industry category, specifically under hospital and related services. The main location for the contract is in Slough, specifically at Wexham Park Hospital in the UKJ11 region. The purchasing process has reached the award stage with the contract intended to be awarded on the 1st of July, 2025, ending by the 31st of March, 2028. This intention to award notice follows the Provider Selection Regime under the Health Care Services Regulation 2023, operating outside the scope of the Procurement Act 2023. The procurement method used is a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, starting with a standstill period that concludes on the 30th of June, 2025. The service aims to stabilise individuals, reduce vulnerability and emergency re-attendances, and contribute towards community empowerment.

This tender presents a distinct opportunity for businesses in the health services sector, particularly those focusing on emergency systems, community services, and rehabilitation. Organisations with expertise in managing healthcare navigation and support services, especially those experienced in engaging with vulnerable young individuals, could significantly benefit. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can provide innovative solutions for reducing dependency on public health systems and enhancing life chances for at-risk populations are particularly well-suited to compete. The selected provider, AIK SAATH, reflects the importance of localised services and community engagement, highlighting potential growth for businesses with a focus on bespoke regional health interventions and collaborative multi-agency partnerships.
