Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process led by Aston University, a sub-central public authority based in Birmingham, United Kingdom, is currently in the planning stage. The tender, titled "Mechanical Framework," encompasses services within the industry categories of repair and maintenance of building installations and installation services of electrical and mechanical equipment. The geographical focus is the UKG31 region. Aston University has initiated a pre-market engagement process to gather insights via a Request for Information (RFI) due by 10th July 2025. This engagement aims to refine their specifications and ideal route to market. The forthcoming contracts are anticipated to cover various mechanical requirements such as HVAC maintenance, gas and plumbing, and water hygiene, safety, and dosing, with services scheduled to commence from 1st August 2026 and extend potentially till July 2031.

This procurement provides significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), capable of delivering comprehensive mechanical services. Potential contractors can expect to engage in areas such as air conditioning maintenance, gas safety checks, plumbing repairs, and water system treatment, offering substantial avenues for business growth. The contract's diverse scope permits broad participation across different specialisations, making it particularly attractive for firms with existing expertise in mechanical installations and maintenance services. Such a framework contract can serve as a noteworthy asset for businesses looking to establish or expand their footprint in the governmental procurement sector.
