Waste Management - Lot 2 Hazardous and Chemical Waste (Laboratory)
Notice Description
Aston University sought the provision of Hazardous and Chemical Waste (Laboratory) services as part of a wider multi-lot Waste Management procurement exercise. Lot 2 comprises the compliant collection, handling, transportation, treatment, recovery and disposal of hazardous and chemical laboratory waste arising from teaching, research and operational activities across Aston University. The scope includes, but is not limited to: * Hazardous laboratory waste * Chemical waste * Laboratory smalls * Solvent waste * Acids and alkalis * Contaminated laboratory consumables * Specialist hazardous waste streams * Waste classification and technical support * Consignment documentation and compliance reporting * Recycling, recovery and treatment services * Contract management, KPI reporting and governance The procurement was undertaken to establish compliant contractual arrangements, improve service resilience, support sustainability objectives, maximise value for money and improve contract management across the University's waste management activities. The contract is awarded for an initial period of 2 years commencing on 1 September 2026, with extension options available until 31 July 2031.

Planning Information
Aston is beginning the pre-market engagement process in relation to it waste management requirements. These will either be packaged within an all inclusive contract, or split into several contracts. Aston is inviting responses to a formal Request For Information ('RFI') to obtain information from the market. This will help Aston to better understand the structure and capability of the market, as well as providing key insights that can be used to identify the most suitable route to market and ensure Aston's specification is fit for purpose. Please contact m.bowcott@aston.ac.uk to request a copy of this RFI. The response date for the RFI is 07th July 2025.
