Summary of the contracting process

West Sussex County Council has awarded the contract for providing an Integrated Sexual Health Service to University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, following a competitive selection process under the Health and Care Act 2022's Provider Selection Regime (PSR), as governed by the 2023 regulations. This award, worth £31,850,000, covers a period of seven years, starting from 1 August 2026, with a five-year initial term plus a potential two-year extension. The contract will provide both in-person and online sexual and reproductive health services across West Sussex. Key evaluation criteria included quality and innovation, integration, value for money, and efforts to reduce health inequalities. The procurement process, conducted openly, involved one bid and followed detailed procurement documentation guidelines. Primary oversight and decision-making were by the WSCC Procurement Board, ensuring no conflicts of interest were involved.

This opportunity offers substantial scope for businesses to engage in comprehensive health service provision, particularly for those experienced in delivering integrated sexual health services. Ideal candidates are providers with robust systems for outreach, prevention activities, and clinical leadership to support a cohesive local health strategy. However, potential suppliers must demonstrate capability and adhere to stringent criteria, such as CQC registration and compliance with safeguarding standards. The contract encourages competitive innovation while aligning with strategic public health goals, making it a prime prospect for businesses aiming to expand within the health services sector while contributing to social and public health improvements.
