Summary of the contracting process

The UK Atomic Energy Authority, a central government public authority situated in Culham, Oxfordshire, initiated a procurement process titled "Safety Case Peer Review Services." This initiative, part of the services industry category, involved a comprehensive tender process beginning with planning as of 3rd July 2025, moving to an active tender stage on 17th October 2025. The tender, identified by "T/CG063/2025," initially aimed to engage businesses in providing safety case peer review services to ensure compliance with safety standards. However, the tender was later cancelled in December 2025 due to internal changes, with the announcement being made on 22nd December 2025. Despite this cancellation, businesses were informed of the opportunity being relaunched, allowing new submissions for the same requirement.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses involved in safety consultancy and professional services aiming to expand by working with a central government authority. The open procurement method, suitable for a wide range of enterprises including SMEs and VCSEs, aimed to allocate a budget up to £600,000 over a three-year term, with a possible extension. By engaging in this tender, businesses can not only gain financial growth but also enhance their portfolios by delivering technical and quality-driven evaluations to a prestigious institution, making it an opportunity best suited for those experienced in high-level safety consultancy services. The iterative nature of the tender process suggests potential for long-term collaboration and the development of expertise in this niche industry sector.
