Summary of the contracting process

Historic England has successfully completed the procurement process for the Fort Cumberland Conservation Management Plan, situated in Eastney, Portsmouth. This procurement, classified under preservation services for historical sites and buildings, was executed using an open competition method below the threshold. The contract was awarded to Pritchard Architecture, a large-scale firm, with the contract period extending from 19 August 2025 to 31 March 2026. Historic England, a public authority functioning under sub-central government, administered the procurement, which originated from Swindon. The total contract value is £42,900 gross (£35,750 net).

This contract provides substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in historical preservation services, particularly those equipped to handle conservation planning for important national monuments. Large architectural firms experienced in managing historical sites would find this an excellent opportunity for business growth and visibility, given the site's significance as a Scheduled Monument and Grade II* listed status. Engaging with such prestigious projects can enhance a company's portfolio and open doors to further contracts within the public sector and cultural heritage fields.
