Summary of the contracting process

The Tamworth Borough Council, located in Tamworth, United Kingdom, undertook the "25/010 Green Belt Assessment Joint Procurement Exercise" aimed at evaluating the green belt for multiple district councils, including Cannock Chase, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, in line with the Planning Practice Guidance. The procurement, conducted through an open procedure, began with its tender phase in July 2025 and was subsequently completed. The contract, officially awarded to Ove Arup & Partners Limited, initially came into effect on 13 November 2025, with a total gross amount of £219,600. Despite achieving completion, the contract was eventually terminated on 3 July 2026, following its implementation period ending on 1 June 2026.

This tender presented significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in consultancy and assessment services, particularly those with experience in compliance with national planning standards. Companies adept in delivering high-quality consulting, marketing, and business services, such as large-scale firms accustomed to competitive tender environments, stood to benefit significantly from involvement. Although the contract has been terminated, businesses within the specified industry category should stay attuned to subsequent opportunities afforded by similar open procedure procurements initiated by Tamworth Borough Council and neighboring authorities.
