Summary of the contracting process

Warwickshire County Council is overseeing the procurement of cross-pavement EV charging solutions as part of its commitment to promoting electric vehicle adoption across the region. The process is currently in the planning stage, and the council is actively engaging suppliers to gather insights into potential solutions and delivery methods. The initiative is part of the Council's broader Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Strategy and Local Transport Plan, focusing on improving service delivery and meeting future demand. Interested parties are invited to participate in a market engagement exercise, with responses due by 19th September 2025. The procurement covers works and service categories and targets the UK region, specifically Warwickshire.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in electrical equipment installation and primary works for services. It offers a substantial contract period extending from early 2026 to the end of 2036, enabling long-term collaboration and potential business expansion. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, aligning with the council's focus on innovative and adaptable solutions to meet evolving EV charging needs. Businesses capable of providing comprehensive or partial solutions for cross-pavement EV charging infrastructure stand to benefit from partnering with a local authority committed to sustainable transport solutions.

Notice Title

WCC Cross-pavement EV charging solutions

Notice Description

Warwickshire County Council is committed to ensuring that everyone, no matter where they live, can make the transition to an electric vehicle (EV). This goal is supported by our Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Strategy 2017 - 2026 & our Local Transport Plan (LTP4). As the Local Authority, we recognise that we have a key role to play in the deployment of EV charging infrastructure, especially for residents without off-street parking. Warwickshire County Council therefore wants to engage with a variety of organisations in the market, to better understand available cross-pavement EV charging solutions, any associated risks and issues during our procurement process and all available delivery options. We are also looking to understand innovative ideas for our current services may be improved to ensure that anticipated increased future demand from residents for EV charging infrastructure can reliably be met, and long-term future maintenance of new EV charging assets can be managed safely and sustainably. We are keen to engage with all suppliers in the market, even if some can only provide the requirement in part.
